The Fort Tuthill Military Museum hosts and participates in a number of special events from the May opening to the September 30th closing.

Our season begins with the annual “Fort Tuthill Days" event which takes place in connection with the Museum opening the 1st Weekend in May. The event, co-sponsored with the Coconino County Parks and Recreation Department, includes a number of outside museum static exhibits. Military reenactor groups representing U.S and foreign units, as well as, collectors of military memorabilia exhibit authentic uniforms, vehicles, and weapons. Additional events featuring reenactor units are scheduled during the summer.

Tours for high school ROTC units, groups from local elementary schools, and adult group tours are conducted during the museum season. A highlight of the season is the Flagstaff 4th of July Parade, and museum concert. U.S. and Regimental Colors of the 158th Infantry Regiment are carried by a military vehicle in the parade, which draws over 10,000 viewers. The Arizona National Guard’s outstanding 108th Army Band is featured in concert at the museum the weekend of the fourth. Uniforms, weapons, equipment, and military vehicles are on display by collectors prior to the concert.

The 2005 museum opening featured a ceremonial transfer of the Regimental Colors from members of the Regiment who served in the South Pacific to the Battalion Commander and Command Sergeant Major of the newly organized 1st Battalion 158th Infantry Regiment. The ceremony signified the passing of the distinguished history and traditions of the famous regiment to the 1st Battalion. The Battalion added another campaign streamer to the colors during a combat deployment to Afghanistan in 2007-08.

Did you know all streets serving the Fort Tuthill County Park will ultimately be named for distinguished soldiers of the 158th Infantry Regiment and preceding units?
